Ayni Bolivia: traditional handicrafts from Bolivia

Crafts are one of the main sources of revenue in Bolivia. Usually it is a women’s business. Ayni Bolivia is a Bolivian fair trade company that specialises in selling traditional clothes and toys produced in the very poor indigenous Aymara communities.
In November 2011 it started an ambitious project “New Hope”. The goal of this project is to get the traditional woollen finger puppets onto the US market. For this project Ayni Bolivia receives financial support of the TDC.

Access to new export markets considerably contributes to the emancipation of the Aymara women, who are still often in an inferior, unequal role.
