Coopain Cabana: quinoa on the fair trade market

In 2001 quinoa farmers from Cabana, in the south of Peru, decided to work together to be able to market greater volumes of quinoa. 10 years later this led to the establishment of the Coopain Cabana cooperative. Through organic certification, among others, Coopain Cabana can target profitable niche markets.

Many farmers from the region want to join Coopain Cabana, but the cooperative lacks the resources to do so. That is why Coopain Cabana, with the support of the TDC, has started a new project to increase the organic production capacity and develop the industrial infrastructure.
