Gumutindo, a Coffee Cooperative Enterprise in Uganda, represents about 6,500 farmers. Since 2004 they produce Fairtrade and organic certified coffee with a strong emphasis on quality.
With the financial support of TDC Gumutindo started up a project in 2009 that goes even further: the production and promotion of a single origin coffee with very high added value for European niche markets. This project, which ended january 2011, achieved its objectives: contacts have been made with European specialty coffee importers, sales volumes have increased and the marketing and promotional strategy of gumutindo is being deployed onto new markets.
